Seahawks Sweep Skagit County Championships
On Thursday, the Anacortes Cross Country team competed in the 65th Annual Skagit County Cross Country Championships at Sedro-Woolley — and completely dominated the day. The Seahawks swept all four races (JV and Varsity, Boys and Girls) in commanding fashion, showcasing the depth and strength of the program.
Boys JV
The underclassmen set the tone early. The freshman-sophomore crew of Audyn Degraaf, Micah Bryant, Owen Pierce, and Eli Shauberger finished 1st through 4th, leading the JV boys to a 27-point win over runner-up Burlington-Edison.
Girls JV
The JV girls followed suit with their own impressive sweep. Ashlyn Ward, Ella Aldridge, Evie Hanes, and Emily Pianetta locked down the top four spots, helping the Seahawks secure a 39-point victory over 2nd place Sedro-Woolley.
Varsity Boys
In the most competitive race of the day, the 7th-ranked Anacortes boys took on 5th-ranked Burlington-Edison. Rising to the occasion, the Seahawks delivered a clutch team performance, outscoring Burlington by 15 points to claim their third consecutive team title.
Senior Dylan Rowell led the charge, setting a new course record with a time of 15:18 to win his second county title. Strong finishes from Maverick Ball, Daniel Blee, Rowan Morganthaler, Owen Kennedy, and Gunner Willoughby rounded out the championship effort.
Varsity Girls
The varsity girls added to the title haul with a dominant showing of their own. Ashley Becerra-Guzman led from wire to wire, claiming her first county title with a time of 19:24 — just shy of the course record. The Seahawks placed all seven varsity runners in the top 13, earning their sixth straight team title.
